Calico Wallpaper Introduces Gesture
A bespoke wallpaper collection captures the spirit of uninhibited creative expression
New York (October 2022) — Calico Wallpaper is pleased to announce the debut of Gesture; a collection inspired by the revolutionary artistic approach of mid century Abstract Expressionists. In creating this new collection, the Calico team studied and reflected on the work of artists such as Robert Motherwell and Jackson Pollack. This new collection features bold brushstrokes informed by intuitive movements that express vital energy.
“Playing with forceful colors and expansive negative space, we explored new forms and textures that can be produced by a spontaneous brushstroke or splatter,” said Rachel Cope, Calico Wallpaper co-founder and creative director.
Gesture is a celebration not only of masterful artists, but the revelatory power of curiosity, openness, and chance, creating spaces that are playful, bold and sophisticated.
Gesture is now available in six colorways: Vivid, Impasto, Verve, Span, Flux, Momentum, Instinct, and Grace.
As with all Calico Wallpaper collections, Gesture was born from original artwork. The Calico Wallpaper team employs advanced technologies to translate its designs into custom-fit murals that are tailored to a client’s project and space. Gesture is available for purchase through Calico Wallpaper, and samples can be ordered at www.calicowallpaper.com.
